Anyone do Charity work?????
by whyamihere inthere is a few things that i am involved in, and have been for quite sometime.
i feel that it is important to raise my children in this type of environment, so that they see outside of the box, and not be so closed minded on our surroundings.
many are in need, and it is easy to close our eyes and forget.. my main charity work will always benefit children.. this weekend i have gathered many things from my house such as kids clothes, shoes, jackets...and i bought many blankets, cook ware, along with money etc... this will all go to easter seals.

Its not a full time commitment with me, i only do it because my other half suggested it and twisted my arm but I don't get paid to do it. I teach people with learning difficulties how to use computers. My other half works for a charity that tries to get people with learning difficulties living independent lives out there in the community. Part of that involves knowing how to use a computer. I also get roped into calling on people to set up their Videos, Tvs and dvd players as well as stuff like moving old fridges / ovens.

Bars, Clubs, The Swimming Pool, a photographic darkroom (Back when there were darkrooms) on a big wheel Ride. Walking the dog in the park is GREAT for pulling especially if you have a nice dog. It breaks the ice and if she has a dog that's friendly it gives you an excuse to spend some time together while your dogs play.

Hey i have one of those and I was ignored too !
On the whole the Elders only bothered with me when there was trouble and they needed to do a fact finding mission (and no I wasn't the congregation snitch)
Towards the end of my dub life I left my normal congregation and went off to another local hall. That was the only time they showed any interest in me and it wasn't so much because they were concerned about me it was because the PO of my "new" unofficial hall had contacted them and asked for my publisher card. My Elders didn't want to give it up and ordered me to come back but the new PO stuck up for me and told me to stay in the new hall and he eventually got my card. Even though I still lived in their territory not once did any of my local Elders or brothers come and visit me or ring.

there is a lot of talk over here in the UK about state funded Religious schools, in particular about funding Muslim and fundi Christian schools. The general consensus seems to be that state funded religious schools shouldn't be allowed but the gov wants them because students achieve better results at them and the pupils end up coming away with a sense of what is morally right and wrong. This is something the government feels is lacking at secular schools. This article sounds like something that's been put out to cause controversy and sink the governments plans for state funded Muslim schools

UPDATE 2: Since Freedom is Free, Why is it Taxed?
by RichieRich inyesterday after school i had to go work on a project with friends.
mom said be home by 5, but there was a huge accident a mile from where i live, and i sat on the road for like 10 - 12 minutes, and was 5 minutes late getting home.
mom was there (didn't go to work- guess why) and she was pissed.
